Prima Rosa

Prima Rosa

One by one clumps of green flare alight,
kindled by shafts of warm sun.
Tiny beacons spreading the word,
floral heralds of spring.

Cheerful faces of pastel lemon,
cast wide their pale yellow glow.
Myriad candles in the dark,
blazing the way they spring.

Welcome sight after winter’s long gloom,
refreshed hopes of growth to come.
Lush green leaves, bright blossom, new life,
bubbling up like a spring.
